The best part about making work is getting to know the people who wear it!
Meet Junko Popham, Born in Tokyo, Japan. Junko had a career as a music journalist and concert producer before moving to the UK in 1989. After a few years living in London, working for a publisher as a correspondent of art/design books and magazines, she moved to the country in Hertfordshire where her city girl eyes were opened to the amazing beauty of British nature and she quickly discovered a passion for gardening.
She suddenly found herself running a local gardening business. Around twenty years later she moved to the north, Manchester, returning to city life with the idea of teaching Ikebana. Ikebana is the Japanese art of flower arrangement, “way of Flowers”.
Junko decided to rediscover a deep connection to her culture, giving her the opportunity to interpret this ancient art form in her new home of Manchester.
Junko’s career has taken her all over the world, resulting in an amazing collection of clothing & accessories, every piece has meaning/ purpose, carefully selected to last and hold a memory. See Junko here in a collection of Jewellery By Elnaz Yazdani.
