ALICE & ELNAZ, JUNK SCHOOL

Embroidery artist Elnaz Yazdani and visual artist Alice Burford have ran the after school club at Stitch_Up Studio in Meanwood Community centre for over a year. Together they have developed a ‘Junk School’ , a space where children feel safe to explore creativity and nature with guidance and direction from professional artists.

Alice and Elnaz are passionate about children’s arts education and encourage them to think outside the box, exploring art through mixed media, stitch, gardening, collage, textiles and making.

Alice and Elnaz’s unique approch to delivering these sessions has increased children’s creativity, confidence and exposure to new and interesting art techniques. The childen have created a safe space surrounded by their creations, garden and outdoor artwork.

Alice and Elnaz use recycled materials and upcycling throughout these sessions to encourage the children to experiment with materials and turn just about anything into works of art. Find out more at: Stitch_Up
